OUR SERVICES & FACILITIES

The Fieldhead Hotel is SE Cornwall’s first ‘aparthotel’ - giving you, our guests, the comfort of a hotel, with the convenience of an apartment with your own kitchenette facilities.

In Your Room

WiFi is FREE to use throughout the Hotel. Select the network “FieldheadWIFI” and the password is “fieldhead2024” (all lower case).

USB & Charging – you will find a charging cube on one of the bedside tables - this has multiple ports for various sizes of USB chargers.

Above the kitchenette, you’ll find a poster with some useful information about the use of both the induction hob & microwave. Before your departure, please ensure that the kitchenette is left clean & tidy, and remove any personal food & drink items from the refrigerator.

Heating – each room has a radiator(s) which has its own thermostat control from 1-5. During the warmer summer months, the sea breeze is a natural air conditioner!  We do have a small number of fans on request from reception.

En-suite – in some of our guest rooms, you will need to turn on the switch outside of your en-suite to power the shower & extractor fan. Lower the switch to the “On” position before use, and the red light on the switch will illuminate.

Emergencies – on the inside of your guest room door, you will find the evacuation plan in case of a fire. Please familiarise yourself with the location of your room on the plan and the exit & assembly point.

Should you need to reach a member of staff when reception is closed, and it is AN EMERGENCY, please call 01503 661005.

From here, you will find a variety of places to eat & drink, including the famous Jolly Sailor Inn, The Portbyhan Hotel & Restaurant and the Sardine Factory Restaurant.

West Looe is also home to the Quayside Centre, which hosts a number of events and, from April - October, the Looe Harbour Heritage Centre, a free-to-enter museum of Looe’s fishing & boat-building industries down the centuries.

From April - November, you can take the small passenger ferry across to East Looe for just £1 where you will find the Town’s main shopping area, the main sandy beach and the departure points of the boat & fishing trips

Pick up your copy of the Fieldhead’s “Looe & Polperro Visitor’s Map” from reception, where you will also find a selection of leaflets for local activities & attractions.

You can find in our Reception a selection of local information leaflets and visitor maps of the area. For a host of other local information, please visit the Welcome to Looe & Polperro website.

The Fieldhead Hotel is located in Hannafore, Looe’s coastal community.

You can walk along the lower sea wall, discover the Island View Cafe (open late March - October) & Hannafore Beach Kiosk (open all year) for an excellent selection of food & drinks.

You’ll also find Looe Tennis Club and Looe Bowling Club (offering mini golf & boules), which are open to visitors.

Around & About

SW Coast Path

The famous SW Coast Path passes just 200 metres from the Hotel. Turn immediately right out of the hotel and then left on Portuan Road until you reach Marine Drive. Cross the road and you are on the SW Coast Path!

Heading west (to your right) you are just over 2 hours to Polperro and beyond to Polruan & Fowey. You will pass stunning scenery, coastal cafes & amazing vistas before reaching Polperro. It is possible to return by bus and, tide/weather permitting, by boat. If you venture onto Fowey, we’d suggest this is for serious walkers!

Turn left at Marine Drive and you are heading east, past the Hannafore Point Hotel, and your walk into Looe - this is a continuation of the SW Coast Path heading towards Millendreath, Seaton, Downderry and beyond to the Rame Peninsula.

If you love walking, you are in for a treat!  If you are not familiar with the SW Coast Path, why not take a guided walk with Looe & Beyond Walking Tours - you can also enjoy a choice of walking tours within Looe itself from Looe Walking Tours

Beaches

Hannafore Beach - just a short walk from the hotel - is mainly rocky (ideal for rock pooling) and is dog-friendly year-round. You will find some small sandy stretches, particularly at low tide.

Looe Beach - located in East Looe, this is a lovely sandy beach; popular in the summer with locals & visitors alike. No dogs are permitted at any time.

With good facilities & beach cafes, you will also find Looe Beach Hire & Activities for everything from deck chairs & windbreaks to paddle boards & kayaks.

Further afield, there are a number of beaches to explore; some you can reach on foot, others by local bus or in your own car. More information on the local Beach Guide.

Water Sports, Fishing & Boat Trips

Looe is famous for fishing - it remains the HQ for the Shark Angling Club of Great Britain and hosts a sea angling festival too.

From short mackerel fishing trips (ideal for the family) to half and full day reef fishing, shark and even tuna fishing (September & October), the trips operate daily from April - October (subject to weather).

If fishing is not for you & you’d prefer a leisurely boat trip, you can take a coastal cruise to Polperro, go seal spotting, take a river trip & even visit Looe (St. George’s) Island. You can even hire your own self-drive boat!  Taking up to 7 people, you can be your own captain on the river and enjoy the stunning scenery from your own vessel.

You will find further information on a host of boat & fishing trips here.

Looe & the surrounding coastal communities are also great places to enjoy a variety of water sports - from paddle boarding & kayaking to E-Foiling….learn more here.

Dining Out

Looe has a wide array of places to eat, drink & enjoy a takeaway - all of which are within a short distance of the Hotel on foot (between 5 and 15 mins walk).

Whether you are in search of award-winning fish & chips, pasties or fine dining, Looe has it all, and there are a few of our local eateries that offer delivery too. You’re also never far from a good pub. With some dating back over 500 years, you will soon have your own local!

Many of the local pubs serve food and welcome families, and many also host live music, Friday & Saturday evenings, and Sunday afternoons.

There’s not a week that goes past without an event taking place locally - from live music to themed dining nights. In the summer months, there are a number of events on the water, or around the harbour too, as well as some of the key events like Carnival week and the Looe Weekender.

If you are visiting for Christmas & New Year, Looe stages two amazing fireworks displays on NYE at 6 pm & midnight. The Fieldhead Hotel is a sponsor and you have one of the very best views in town - but reserve your room EARLY!

You can view the local What’s On & Events pages to check what is taking place during your stay.
